McBain Residential Hall
This design consisted in gut renovating of the entire building in (3) phases of construction. The building is a dormitory building for Columbia University students, of 8 floors and a basement. Aarris was in charge of the entire project, and the estimated cost was $10 million.
Phase 1 consisted in the renovation of the 1st floor, 7th and 8th floor. 1st Floor consisted in the renovation of the lobby, lounge, laundry room, gym, and a section of dorms. Aarris used environmentally friendly materials including a green wall at the entry of the lobby. Aarris also opened up the lounge with glass to increase visibility and lively atmosphere to the lounge.
Phase 2 consisted of the window replacement and the renovation of floors 4, 5, and 6.
Phase 3 consisted in the renovation of HVAC system and some floor layout change of 2nd and 3rd-floor plans.
